MUNSTER ROUND UP OF THE NATIONAL LEAGUE.

Kerry v Donegal
Kerry defeated the home team Donegal at the weekend. This game showed great talent of senior players. Half time score was 16 points to 1-03. The opening score of the second half was taken by Mairead Finnegan she scored a point after 10 minutes. Kerry had a lot of outstanding players on the day, Mairead Scanlon who played midfield; she was very impressive, great fielder of the ball and only being a minor, which means there is still a lot of potential to come. Bernie Breen the other midfielder was also outstanding on the day. Kerry’s centre forward Mags O’ Donoghue scored 5 points, very impressive from the centre forward. Patrice Dehenney who is a minor played wing forward scoring a goal in the second half and also Louise Mhuirerthaigh being a minor too had a superb game, playing as the other wing forward.
Manager Pat Hartnett said Kerry has a small team that are very lively and have a lot of pace and that obviously showed in this match. He used 5 substitutes in the second half, giving girls a chance to show their potential.

Clare v Dublin
Clare were brought back to reality after the game at the weekend. Things did not go their way but they are looking forward to the quarter finals. The final score was 6-14 to 4 points. Sinead Kelly played well at centre back. Aine Kelly Clare’s centre forward played well and scored the last point form a free. Collette Corry who is new to the panel playing at wing back also played very well.

Cork v Monaghan
Cork hosting Monaghan in CIT were defeated by the minimum 2-08 to 13 points, losing by 1 point. Cork suffering a second defeat in consecutive weeks in the national league.

Limerick v Carlow
Limerick did very well against Carlow at the weekend in a very physical match leaving with a victory of 1-13 to 5 points. Limerick were leading at the break 1-08 to no score. Limerick some outstanding players on the day, Dymphna O’ Brien played very well at corner forward, Mary Ita Casey who played full forward had a great game and scored limerick’s goal and also minor Paula Donnelly played very well at midfield.

Waterford v Sligo
Waterford faced a heavy defeat against Sligo losing 2-14 to 9 points.

Tipperary v Wexford
This game was played Monday evening. Wexford opened the game with a point, but that was nothing for Tipperary who at half time led the game 1-07 to 5 points. The game was levelled 10 minutes into the second half then Tipperary went 6 points up and Wexford brought it back to a 3 point trail but Tipperary kept ahead till the end winning by 3 points. Jennifer Grant had a great game at centre back, Ann O’ Dwyer played well at midfield, Gillian O’ Brien, Mairead Morrissey and Catriona Walsh all played well in the forwards.

Waterford come into this game having earned a 1 point victory in the first round of the competition with a feast of goals in Cahir last Saturday.
