O’Flynn gets Cork out of jail in Parnell Park

Suzuki National League Div 1 Final Parnell Park, Dublin
Cork 0.14 Meath 0.12

Dromtariffe’s Geraldine O’Flynn provided Cork with a ‘ get out
of jail’ card in last night’s Suzuki National League Div 1 final.
The 2nd half substitute made an immediate impact on the game as
it entered its dying moments with the teams tied on 12 points apiece.Firstly
she slotted over a point from play within seconds of appearing and
then made the game safe for the Rebel’s with a sweetly struck free
deep into injury time.

Cork appeared well in control of this match in the opening quarter
with 5 unanswered points from D O’Reilly,S O’Reilly,R Buckley,C
Creedon & A O’Connor.Meath , playing a very fast brand of football,
came into the game courtesy of some great work from Mary Sheridan,Gillian
Bennett and player of the match, Jillian Nulty.

The latter tormented the Cork defence over the 60 mins and but
for some very poor shooting by the Royal’s forward line Cork would
almost certainly have surrendered their national league title. Meath
kicked 16 wides in all which tells its own story. No doubt they will
be a force to be reckoned with come championship time.
