O'Flynn wins Croke Park Hotel Player of the Month Award

Cork’s Geraldine O’Flynn has today been honoured with the Croke Park Hotel September Player of the Month Award. The Rebel’s dynamic wing back scored two points in a player of the match performance as the Leesiders claimed their seventh All Ireland title in eight years.

Geraldine had another excellent season in 2012 and her performance against Kerry capped off an excellent campaign for the Liscarroll star. Such is the ability of the Portlaoise based teacher that she was selected by her fellow Inter County players as one of three nominees for the ‘Player’s Player of the Year Award’ along with her teammate, Briege Corkery, and Dublin’s Sinead Goldrick. The Player’s Player of the Year Award will be presented on Saturday the 10th November at the annual All Star Awards, another award for which Geraldine has been nominated.

Speaking about receiving the Croke Park Hotel September Player of the Month Award Geraldine said, ‘I am really honoured to receive this award. It has been a great year and to win an All-Ireland at the end of it was fantastic. Things went well for us in the final against a very resilient Kerry team but we stuck to our game plan and came out on the right side of the result.’

Pat Quill, President of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association said ‘Geraldine is one of the real stars of Ladies Gaelic Football and is an inspirational figure in an exceptional team. She is a role model to young players coming through the ranks and her performance in the All Ireland Final was full of examples of all that is good about Ladies Gaelic Football.’
