Loretto Fermoy started this “Pat the Baker” Munster Sen
A ladies football semi final against St Mary’s Mallow in whirlwind
fashion in Ballyhooy ,Jenny Sheehan opened the scoring with a point
her sister Katie added two more and the midfield pairing of Orla
Cottor and captain Carly Shannon added one a piece. Mid way through
the half the Mallow defence was ripped open by a great passing movment
from the Fermoy girls and corner forward Kate Feeney finished to
the net. Mallow could make little headway against the wind and a
strong Fermoy defence in which Aisling Hutchings and Elenor Ahern
excelled ,while in the forwards they all showed the ability to score
with Grace Kearney and Katie Hannon adding points.Mallow were dealt
afurther blow just before halftime when Ciara O Sullivan was sin
binned and the Fermoy took the opportunity to add four more points
to go in at half time with a commanding lead 1-13 to no score. Mallow
started the second half with renewed vigour playing with a strong
wind but were rocked back when first Emma O Hagan pointed and Katie
Hannon goaled after another great passing movement. Rebecca Larkin
Trisha Murphy and Sandra Conway tried hard in defense for Mallow
but the Fermoy girls movement and ability to find a team mate meant
they created numerous scoring and only for some excellent saves
by Karen Finnagan they would have many more goals. The O Sullivan
sister Ciara and Roisin pushed forward and were rewarded by two
points from Linda Barrett and one from Kathryn Coakley they also
failed to convert some good chances and when Katie Hannon added
her second goal Fermoy were on their way to a final meeting with
the Kerry kingpins Colaiste na Sceilge .Final score Loretto Fermoy
