Pat the Baker Roll Out All Ireland

Post Primary Schools Semi-Finalists

The Senior and Junior semi-finals of the Pat the Baker Ladies Football All Ireland Post Primary Schools Competitions will be played over the next two weeks.

Pat the Baker sponsor the schools competitions all the way from county level through the provincial championships to the All Ireland finals across both the Senior and Junior grades.

This week the Senior A, B and C national semi-finals will take place and there are some familiar names again challenging for honors.

In the Senior A competition, defending champions’ St Leo’s of Carlow take on one of the giants of the schools game in St Louis of Monaghan. St Louis have won the Senior A title four times, beating St Leo’s in the 2006 final to claim their third consecutive title.

In the other side of the draw Presentation College, Tuam take on St Mary’s, Mallow. Presentation College won the Senior A title in 2003 whereas St Mary’s were runner’s up in 2004 in the Senior B competition.

The Senior B semi-finals pit St Josephs, Castleisland against Headford, Galway and Moate CS, Westmeath against Carrickmore, Tyrone while in the Senior C competition Moyne, Longford take on St Mary’s, Newry and John the Baptist, Limerick face Mt St Michaels, Claremorris.

Geraldine Giles, Uactaran Peil Gael na mBan, said, “The schools game is a breeding ground for the county stars of the future and competition at this level provides a platform for players to express themselves and develop naturally whilst instilling that competitive spirit. The success and popularity of the schools system would not be possible without the support of our sponsor Pat the Baker.”
