President honours Dublin Minor Captains Geraldine Giles, President of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association and Paul ‘Pillar’ Caffrey, Dublin Senior Football Manager were Guests of Honour as Castleknock Community College celebrated the achievements of two of its finest sporting talents. The respective Dublin Minor Captains of 2006 graduated in a ceremony held in the Castleknock Hotel & Country Club. Lorna Hillery (Castleknock), Dublin Minor Captain, has represented her county at all levels and is currently corner-forward on the Dublin Senior Ladies Football Team. Lorna has already captained the Dublin Minors to victory over Laois in the 2006 Leinster Minor Championship Final – Dublin’s second consecutive Leinster Minor Championship victory. A busy schedule lies ahead for Lorna as she will be aiming to secure Dublin’s 5th consecutive Leinster Senior Championship title this year. Dublin Minor Captains 2006, pictured with Dublin Senior Football Manager, Paul ‘Pillar’ Caffrey are Paddy Andrews (St. Brigid’s) and Lorna Hillery (Castleknock), accompanied on the left by Mr. Thomas J. O’Brien, Principal of Castleknock Community College. Paddy Andrews (St. Brigid’s), Dublin Minor Captain, has just returned from the International Rules trip to Australia. Paddy is a bright and emerging talent on the Dublin scene. Paddy is the talented younger brother of Dublin’s Star, Peadar Andrews. Specially invited guests were present to mark this unique occasion for the Castleknock Community College. In attendance were Dublin Senior Football Manager, Paul ‘Pillar’ Caffrey who presented Paddy Andrews (St. Brigid’s) with his award. Geraldine Giles, President of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association was specially invited by the College to present Lorna Hillery (Castleknock), with her achievement award. Mr. Thomas J. O’Brien, Principal of Castleknock Community College acknowledged the significance of this unique occasion for the College and pointed to the attendance of both distinguished guests as a tribute to the achievements of both Dublin Minor Captains. He hoped their inspiration would motivate students to become similar role models in the future and bring pride and distinction to the college in the years ahead.
