Press Release:- Tyrone Ladies Senior Management

Following comments in certain sections of the media,
the Executive Committee of Cumman Peil Gael Tir Eoghain
feels it necessary to clarify a number of key points regarding
the position of Senior Team Manager.

The previous management team were appointed for the duration
of Tyrone’s Senior Championship campaign of 2003. As this
campaign ended with a disappointing defeat to Galway at
the Quarter-final stage, so too did the managers’ term.

This was made clear to those involved from the outset and
as far as the Executive were concerned there was no opportunity
for confusion to arise. However, comments and suggestions
in the media in recent weeks appear to contradict this.
The Executive is currently exploring a number of channels,
with considerable success, in order to appoint a manager
and backroom team who it feels can take this current Tyrone
team to the next level, as well as being capable of nurturing
talented younger players to ensure long-term progress and
ultimate success.

We realise the importance of ensuring the correct systems
are put in place, and are willing to take whatever length
of time required to find the correct people for the job.
With this in mind, and taking into consideration that the
National League does not commence in earnest until after
Christmas, the decision has been taken that the team will
be under the control of a “caretaker” management team for
the forthcoming National League fixture against Roscommon,
and the Senior panel has been called together for training
for this fixture.

The Senior players are aware of the situation and are working
in tandem with the Executive to guarantee the continued
success, and continued improvement, of the Tyrone Senior
Ladies team.
