Lidl Ladies NFL Division 2 – Round 5

Kerry v Cavan, 12pm, Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney (K Phelan, Laois) – LIVE LGFA Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/LadiesGaelicFootball/

The rearranged clash from Fitzgerald Stadium in Killarney (12.0) features two counties who have their sights set on promotion to Division 1.

Kerry have already qualified for the semi-finals, irrespective of the outcome of the remaining fixture in the group stages, but Cavan need a draw or a victory to squeeze Clare out of the knockout places.

Cavan are currently in fifth place on ten points, one behind Munster rivals Kerry and Clare.

A victory for Cavan would see them finish in third place in the standings, level on points with Waterford but behind the Déise on the head-to-head rule.

A draw will also be enough for Cavan as they would move on to 11 points and level with Clare, who they would also eliminate on the head-to-head rule.

Even though a defeat for Kerry would leave them level on points with Clare, the Kingdom will still progress.

Kerry drew with Clare on the opening day of the season but would go through after registering the highest number of points, i.e. scores converted over the bar, in that head to head match.

Kerry scored 1-17 against Clare, who racked up a tally of 4-8 in the Round 1 fixture in Doonbeg.

Armagh are certain to finish at the head of affairs in Division 2, with Orchard County to play the fourth placed team, while second will play third in the semi-finals.

Lidl Ladies NFL Division 4 – Round 5

Louth v Fermanagh, 2pm, Glen Emmets (D Hurson, Monaghan)

The four semi-finalists in Division 4 have already been determined but the meeting of Louth and Fermanagh will dictate who plays who.

A win for either Louth or Fermanagh will see them finish at the head of affairs on 18 points, and pitted with Antrim in the last four.

The defeated team on Sunday would then face off against Limerick in the semi-finals.

If the game finishes in a draw, both counties would end up on 16 points and will have to be separated into first and second via NFL regulations.
