10 November 2015 Provincial Glory for Foxrock/Cabinteely & Kilkerrin Clonberne Share this Article 0 0 0 Shares! 0 Shares! It was an historic day for the Foxrock Cabinteely club who defeated Mountmellick Sarsfields to win their first ever Leinster Senior Club Championship. Mountmellick entered the match as favourites as they went in search of a third Leinster title in a row but in a weather spoiled encounter it was to be the Dublin clubs day. The groundwork for victory was laid in the first half as Foxrock held a 0-10 to 0-03 lead having had the benefit of the wind. Mountmellick did battle to get back into the game in the second half but the gap was always too big as the Niamh Collins inspired team held out for the win. In Connacht it was a second Connacht crown in a row for Galway’s Kilkerrin Clonberne who were irresistible against Kiltubrid from Leitrim. Olivia Divilly set the tone for the defending champions when she pointed after a minute to give Kilkerrin a lead they never relinquished and when Siobhan Divilly goaled after 15 mins to make it 1-05 to no score the game was already effectively over. Kilkerrin held a half time lead of 3-11 to 0-01 and although Kiltubrid attempted to battle back there was no stopping Kilkerrin Clonberne who ran out 6-19 to 0-07 winners.
