PWC Ireland (white) and Irish Prison Service collect the Cup and Shield titles at LGFA Interfirms

PWC Ireland (white), runners-up in 2019, landed the LGFA Interfirms Cup at the GAA National Games Development Centre in Abbotstown, Dublin, on Saturday.

PWC fielded two teams in the competitive section of the event, and one team in the recreational blitz.

And the squad featuring a host of inter-county stars, including Dublin’s Niamh Hetherton, Meath’s Aoibhín Cleary, Carlow’s Maria Kinsella and Aimee Kelly from Laois won every game en route to landing the silverware, with a comfortable victory over Boston Scientific in the Final.

PWC Ireland (black) contested the Shield Final but victory went to the Irish Prison Service.

Six teams competed in the competitive section of the LGFA Interfirms, with 16 teams involved in the recreational blitz.

Leinster LGFA President Trina Murray presented the Cup and Shield to the winners, to cap a memorable day in Abbotstown, as the LGFA Interfirms returned for the first time since 2019.

PWC Ireland (white) lost out to AIB in 2019 and Kelly reflected: “It was a great day, some event and great fun. Nice to get a cup at the end of it – makes it all worthwhile.

“I played in 2019 with PWC and we got to the Final. It’s nice to come back and win it this year.

“It’s a great way of meeting girls and you’d recognise girls from seeing them in the office. “Because of Covid, we wouldn’t have seen each other much. Most of us didn’t even know each other’s names beforehand so it was great.”
