Record tv audience for TG4 Ladies Football Final 2005 PRESS RELEASE 4 October 2005 Viewing figures for Sunday’s live broadcast of the TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Football Senior and Junior Finals, (2 October 2005), show that it reached a total afternoon audience of 531,000, an increase of 50,000 on last year’s coverage of this event. The average share of audience for the duration of the Senior Final (Cork v Galway) was 27%, meaning that over one in four of all television viewers in Ireland at the time was tuned to TG4. (Source: AGB Nielsen Media Research, the official measure for tv audience in Ireland). TG4’s webcasting of the 2005 Senior Finals doubled its viewership over last year’s webcast of the same event. This year’s Finals were watched in Europe, North America UK and Japan. C ommenting on these viewing figures, TG4 Ceannasaí, Pól Ó Gallchóir, said that he was delighted at this latest confirmation of the continuing growth of TG4 audience. “Coming at the end of the first full week of our new Autumn 2005 schedule, these audience figures are very welcome and represent the most tangible measure of success for us,” he said.
