Register NOW for this evening's 'Essential Guide to GDPR' webinar - aimed at Ulster-based clubs

In light of the current COVID-19 restrictions, the upcoming LGFA Data Protection Workshops which were due to take place as face to face workshops must be cancelled, however we are delighted to announce that the LGFA will run a number of webinars for our officers to get upskilled in our Essential Guide to GDPR workshop.

The workshop, which is normally 2 ½ hours in duration will now be delivered in one 90 minute webinar and will be delivered by our GDPR Consultant, Darragh Cunningham from GDPR for Sport.

There are limited places available on the webinar system but we will continue to run the webinars based on demand for the workshop within each area so everyone will be accommodated but we do recommend booking early and it will be first come first served.  As places are limited I would also ask people to please only sign up if you are actually available and intend joining the webinar.

The down time on activities, provides an excellent opportunity for all clubs to gain this essential training and ensure your club is compliant with the legislation.

The next webinar is aimed at Ulster based clubs and will take place on Monday 6th April at 7.15 p.m.. – please register your attendance by clicking the link below.

PLEASE  NOTE: You will receive a more detailed email with how to log onto the webinar, which requires you setting up as a user on the GAA E-Learning Portal – please read the User Guide in full as it also contains the Enrolment Key which you will need on the evening of the webinar.

We thank you for your co-operation and working with us on this new training initiative.

Essential Guide to GDPR

This course is the next step up from the LGFA 10 Step Essential Guide to data protection.  The comprehensive course will assist you with understanding GDPR terminology and the principles which underpin the new legislation.  Taking this understanding the course will then look at how as clubs, county boards, etc we can ensure we are compliant with legislation using a practical approach suitable to a volunteer sport. Feedback from 2019 was overwhelming positive: “This is brilliant. I’ve been to lots of courses on GDPR and the way it’s been delivered today, I actually now understand it”.

2019 Workshop Feedback

‘Have been to numerous GDPR from both a technical and legal aspect. But this was an excellent layman’s approach – and made immediate sense.

Have suggested to Executive Committee to finds out about how to attend one as they would benefit greatly’.

‘Well informed and easy digesting of a laborious subject’

‘Found the workshop last Wednesday excellent.  I’m registrar and assistant secretary for our club and if I’m honest I had being putting off going to GDPR workshop.  It’s a long drive to Portlaoise and a 3 hour workshop, I was wondering if I would learn anything new.  It was one of the best workshops I’ve been too. I had a fear of GDPR and played everything so safe with our club which nearly inhibited the daily running of our club, can’t do this, can’t do that, because of GDPR.  Darragh was excellent in explaining everything and giving me a very good understanding of what is involved. Delighted I attended and highly recommend the workshop’.

‘A much more workable approach to Data Protection – not to be feared but can be worked with’.
