REVEALED: Free access to AIG ‘Health Plus’ Portal for all LGFA players and members

  • Armagh star Aimee Mackin on hand to mark announcement as 2020 TG4 Senior Players’ Player of the Year collects AIG Cúl na Bliana award

ARMAGH star and 2020 TG4 Senior Players’ Player of the Year, Aimee Mackin, has hailed the announcement that the ‘AIG Health’ portal, provided by the LGFA’s Official Insurance Partner, AIG Insurance, is now available to all LGFA players and members.

Mackin collected the 2020 AIG Cúl na Bliana award for her stunning strike against Dublin in the TG4 All-Ireland Senior Championship semi-final – and she was voted best in class by her peers following a stunning individual campaign.

Mackin rehabbed in her home gym on the comeback trail from serious knee ligament damage – before shooting the lights out during the 2020 Championship.

And the Shane O’Neills attacker is delighted that LGFA players and members can now avail of a 12-month free membership of the AIG Health & Wellness Club, that includes a Virtual Gym.

The ‘AIG Health’ portal is exclusive to LGFA players and members and provides access to four specialist portals and member areas: physio-led fitness/Athletic Development/Fitness for Life/Mobility.

In addition, there is access to Home Video Exercise Plans, Injury Prevention & Rehab, Strength & Conditioning, Core & Mobility, Yoga & Pilates and running mechanics videos and advice.

LGFA players and members can avail of specific training plans for all ages and fitness goals, as the AIG Health & Wellness Club provides benefits and supports to enable you to live a healthy and happy lifestyle.

This service is hosted and delivered by AIG’s partners, Sports Physio Ireland.

Sports Physio Ireland are a leading and innovative Irish based Leading Physiotherapy, Personal Training and Fitness Clinic founded by former Dublin GAA hurler Joey Boland.

The portal contains a wide range of high-quality tailored videos, workouts, live classes, training programmes as well as self-assessment tools and access to trainers and physiotherapists for advice and additional services.

Commenting on the announcement, Aidan Connaughton, General Manager at AIG Ireland said: “As part of AIG’s commitment to supporting communities across Ireland, the extension of the AIG Health and Wellbeing initiative, which provides free access for those with LGFA membership to our new innovative digital ‘AIG Health’ portal, is a further way for us to show that commitment.

“As an insurance company we manage risk and its prevention, which is a key part of our business.

“This extension of our Club Health initiative to Ladies Football will further promote, support and encourage healthy living across the LGFA, in addition to reinforcing our values and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.”

Armagh star Aimee Mackin added: “As an inter-county player, I’m acutely aware of the benefits of specialist advice when it comes to my physical fitness.

“The ‘AIG Health’ portal is a fantastic resource that is now available to all LGFA players and members – and I would encourage as many people as possible to use it.

“The time will come soon when we are back on the training pitch but, in the meantime, I’m keeping in shape in my home gym and with virtual training sessions.

“The ‘AIG Health’ portal will provide you with specialist advice and great training plans to help you reach your goals.

“I’m also incredibly proud to accept the AIG Cúl na Bliana award. While we may have come up just short against Dublin in the 2020 TG4 All-Ireland semi-final, it was still a very memorable year for myself personally, and the Armagh team.

“We hope to make further progress in 2021 but I’ll always remember the 2020 campaign with huge fondness after winning the TG4 Senior Players’ Player of the Year and AIG Cúl na Bliana awards.”
