Roscommon U14 Defeat Mayo

Roscommon U-14 panel who defeated Mayo in the Connacht Championship on Saturday in Swinford

Ward Bros sponsored Roscommon senior ladies booked their place in the semi-finals of the Tesco HomeGrown  Div 3 league with an emphatic victory over Fermanagh in a wet blustery Fuerty on Sunday afternoon last. Despite playing into the gale force wind Roscommon ladies dominated the early stages had 1-02 to 0-01 after ten minutes. The Erne ladies came more into the game as the half progressed and were back on level terms by the break at 1-06 apiece. With the wind at their back in in the second half Roscommon ladies dominated proceeding and outscored their opponents 2-09 to 0-03 to leave it 3-15 to 1-09 at the full time whistle. Roscommon play Wexford in the final group game at a Roscommon venue in two weeks time.

Roscommon Minor girls play Galway in round 2 of the Connacht Championship on Saturday next at 3:30p.m. This game is a curtain raiser to the Connacht U-21 final between Roscommon and Galway in Tuam Stadium.  We hope Roscommon supporters going to the U-21 game will travel down earlier and support the girls.

Our U-14 team recorded a great win over Mayo in the Connacht U-14 championship on Saturday last in Swinford. Despite playing against a strong wind Roscommon trailed by a single point at the break on a score of Roscommon 2-02 Mayo 1-06. Roscommon dominated the second half and used the wind to their advantage where the added a further 1-05 to their tally the home sides only response was a point on the stroke of fulltime. Full time score Roscommon 3-07 Mayo 1-08.

Well done to team and management on what was a great result for Roscommon. Their next outing is against Leitrim at a Leitrim on Saturday next time venue tbc.
