Round 1 Bord Gais Energy NFL Division 1

Laois 1.10 Kildare 4.10

Time: 2pm

Venue: Timahoe

Ref: Joe Murray (Dublin)

An early morning decision moved this fixture to Timahoe due to a water logged Park- Rathineska. This was a key fixture for Laois an Somatics Video Download And Ayurvedic Diet And Exercise Ebook. d Kildare as they build towards their championship meeting in July.

Kildare got off to a quick start. The ball was moved sharply to the forwards where debutant, Mary Hulgraine gathered and delivered a perfect pass to Noelle Earley who hit the post inside the first minute. This looked to have set the intentions of the
lilywhites. However, Laois shot in to a three point lead with scores coming from Tracey Lawlor (3 and 6 mins) and Martha Kirwan (5 mins). Kildare replied with a well worked goal taken by Stacey Cannon. Sarah McEvoy for Laois was sin-binned
for a high tackle on Earley. The Kildare girls began to settle and produced some fine speels of dominance. Some great passing was on display, aswell as some powerful defending including great interceptions and blocking from Aisling Holton wearing
the number 5 jersey. Tracey Noone showed her experience lining out in the centre- forward position scoring 2 points in the first half (11 mins from a free and 12 mins).
Kildares second goal came from Na Fiannas Cannon in the 15th minute. Laois replied with points from Lawlor (16 mins) and Aisling Kehoe (22 mins). Mary Hulgraine got her name on the score sheet by converting a free in the 24th minute. Kildare finished the half stongest. Earley pointed in the 25th minute and Cannon was unlucky not to snatch a goal. Earley and Aine Gately were involved in a move which saw Deirdre Gately send a powerful shot to the back of the net just before half time making the scoreline – Laois 0.07 Kildare 3.04.

Kildare played some sharp attacking football in the opening of the second half and added 3 points to the scoreline with scores coming from substitute Catherine O’ Malley, Stacey Cannon and Tracey Noone. Laois replied with points from substitute
Danni Callinan and Tracey Lawlor. Kildare lost Holton 11 minutes in to the second half when ref Joe Murray sin-binned her. Stacey Cannon concluded her hat trick on the 45th minute. The Kildare girls finished the game adding 3 further points from
Deirdre Gately, Noone and substitute Aoife Jacob. Laois has a late consolation goal when Martina a Dunne converted a well struck penalty on the 28th minute. The final scoreline was Laois 1.10 Kildare 4.10.

This was a perfect start for Paul Kellys lilywhites in their league campaign. It is never easy to go to Laois and get a result but the girls achieved this in style. Overall this was a fine team display but special credit goes to the half back line of Holton and the
Leahy sisters who were solid against the Laois attach and took some pressure off the full-back line. The midfield pairing of Joanna Timmins and Maria Moolick put in a fighting display of interceptions and quality distribution of the ball. Robert Emmetts
Hulgraine impressed in her first game for the side and Cannon finished with an impressive personal tally of 3.01. A tough week of training and preparation lies ahead for the Kildare girls as they entertain Cork in Ballykelly next Sunday (13th February).
