Scene set for biggest ever USGAA Finals!

USGAA is about to embark on one of the most anticipated weekends of the year, the USGAA Finals, which will take place in Gaelic Park, Chicago starting with quarter finals on August 19th and finishing with championship games on August 21st. 

With around 120 teams participating that range from Junior D all the way to Senior grade levels in all codes- mens and ladies football, hurling, and camogie, this will be the largest USGAA Finals to date. 

USGAA is comprised of 10 divisions, with more than half running out championship competitions from May through August to battle it out for a spot in USGAA finals and this weekend is a battle of the country to see who has worked the hardest each year to hold the national title. Each year the USGAA selects a different location to host this annual event. 

Bernie Connaughton, USGAA Chairperson, states that “USGAA Finals are a weekend where divisions and clubs get to showcase all of the development that they have been working on throughout the year. With over 120 teams traveling to finals this year, it is a credit to what the divisions have been doing to develop Gaelic Games in the US. The USGAA looks forward to showcasing that we are a very strong international unit within the GAA that has competitive games year after year and as we continue to grow our homegrown contingency to over 50%, we will continue to cultivate Irish culture within the US, while getting stronger and growing our presence internationally.”
