Seneschalstown V’s Grangenolvin 2-17 to 1-6 Seneschalstown progressed in the their Leinster campaign by beating Grangenolvin near Athy on Sunday. Seneschalstown got off to a good start and went 1-5 up with no reply from the home team. Mary Sheridan intercepted a short kick out from the oppositions goalkeeper to score the Meath champions first goal. Gillian Bennett was in good form andconverted 5 frees out of 6 in the first half. The midfield battle was very tight and it was a tough competitive fight. Grange got their first score on the scoreboard with a goal. At half time it was 1-10 to 1-2 to Seneschalstown. The second half started well for Grange and they scored 2 points by playing the ball straight down the middle through their strong players. Orla Sheridan had a tough contest at centre-half forward as her player was attacking but she did very well to curtail this. Overall it was a hard fight for the Meath club but they came through it on top and finished the game off in the last ten minutes with a goal and a few well taken points. Best for Seneschalstown were Debbie Dillion, Linda Tully, Edel McGrane, Grainne Nulty, and Fiona Mahon. They now face the Wexford champions, Clonee in Wexford in the next few weeks.
