Shannon Gaels 2 – 7 Liscannor 2 – 4

The U-14 girls of Shannon Gaels produced a scintillating second half performance to overturn a six point half time deficit and run out deserving winners of this highly entertaining final played in Pairc Naomh Mhuire in Quilty.

Aided by a slight breeze Liscannor raced into an early lead when midfielder Aisling Torpey opened their account with a good goal on eight minutes. Three quick fire points from their outstanding centre forward Marie O'Donogue added to Liscannor's advantage by twenty minutes and they seemed in control of affairs. Shannon Gael's only score of the first half came from the boot of Carla Behan on twenty two minutes and Liscannor retired at half time with a healthy 1-4 to 0-1 advantage.

Shannon Gaels however were a transformed outfit in the second half and within two minutes had halved the deficit thanks to a well taken goal after two minutes again from the boot of Carla Behan. Four minutes later the teams were level when full forward Claire Bannon netted for the Gaels. Liscannor refused to buckle however and regained the lead on forty five minutes through an Emer Hillery goal. The remaining fifteen minutes belonged to the Gaels and especially to their dynamic forward duo of Behan and Bannon. Carla Behan helped herself to four points and Claire Bannon scored two to close out the game for the Gaels to give them a deserved three point winning margin.

Best for the winners apart from Behan and Bannon were Niamh Markham, Emer King and Gracie Davoren while Roisín Rouine, Aisling Torpey, Emer Hillery and Marie O'Donoghue gave great displays for Liscannor.

Following the game Clare Ladies Board chairman Johnny Hayes presented the U14 C Championship trophy to winning captain Bríd O'Connell of Shannon Gaels.
