Sligo Gaelic4Girls Report SligoGaelic4Girls Gaelic 4Girls – G4G – concluded with the presentation of Certificates, Tee Shirts and Medals on Thursday evening last in St Mary’s Clubhouse with all 3 areas being present. Also in attendance on the evening was Geraldine Giles – President of Cumann Peil Gael na mBan – who presented the girls with their certificates. Games Development Officer of Connacht, Mary Beades is to be complemented along with the G4G Coaches in Sligo Town for all their work over the past number of weeks with this program which was the first of its kind in the County. Participants in the Gaelic4Girls Sligo Sports Partnership also played a major part in the funding of the event and Sligo Corporation for the use of their grounds for the 6 weeks in Abbey Quarter, Cranmore; Seaview Park & Forthill. G4G main aim is to promote the Ladies game in areas where there is no Ladies Football being played and for girls between the ages of 9 – 13 that have never played or never been involved in Ladies Gaelic Football before. Members of Connacht Council were also in attendance on the night. It is hoped that these girls will continue to play Ladies Gaelic Football with the clubs in the area.
