by Paddy White, PRO

Two goals by Deidre Corridan, who gave a player of the match performance for Southern Gaels in
their facile 14 point victory over Northern Rangers at Milltown Castle yesterday.

Playing against a considerer breeze in the first half Southern Gaels had a 6 point lead between
the sides at the half, leading 2-05 to 0-05.

Kacey O Driscoll opened the score in the 2nd minute with a point from 20 yards and Deidre
Corridan took the first of her two goals in the 4th minute when Kasey O Driscoll drew cover from the
back line of Northern Rangers and Deidre took her score without any pressure.
Kasey took 2 further points and by the 7th minute Southern Gaels lead 1-03 to no score.
Northern Rangers introduced Breda Lane for Breda Slattery in the 8th min as Breda Slattery took a
knock. Northern Rangers did open their score with a point from Sinead Bunyan in the 9th minute
after a free from a foul on Sinead Makessey, 2 further points from Rosie Young and Edel O Connell
left 3 between the sides at the end of the 1st qtr.
Southern Gaels 1-03 Northern Rangers 0-03.
Two further points Sinead Bunyan in the 20th and 22nd min gave a new lease of life to NRs, and left
just one between the sides, but it was short lived as Deidre Corridan of SG fisted a high passing
ball into the net as NRs keeper Laura Collins was left exposed as Kasey O Driscoll drew the Rangers
backs out of position and left Corridan to the finish a sweet move that started in the SG backline
as Laura O Sullivan at corner back took the ball up field and a high ball in to NRs back line and
Corridan doing the damage.
Two further points from Corridan and Linda Cronin, saw the Gaels lead at the half on 2-05 to 0-05

At the restart, NRs Noreen Fealy and Sinead Bunyan, which were the only scores in this half for
Northern Rangers, traded points with Southern Gaels Deidre Corridan and Kasey O Driscoll, the other
O Driscoll sister Laoise had a point blank save from the boot of Sinead Mackessy and from that save
a ball moved up field by Maura Cronin resulted in another point for her sister Kasey.

At the end of the 3rd quarter SG extended their lead to 2-10 to 0-07 after a point from the boot of
Bernie Cronin.

Two further points from Linda and Aishling Cronin, Aishling was introduced for Aine Morris (injured)
and a goal in the 55th min from Linda Cronin, saw this game beyond the reach of Rangers as Southern
Gaels ran out easy winners in this Ballyroe Heights Hotel Senior League final.
The mark was put down by Southern Gaels performance and if anyone who wants to take their crown as
Kerry Senior Club Champions must exceed this level of fitness and finishing displayed today by
Southern Gaels.

An excellent game refereed by Paul Hayes of Kerins O Rahillys who let the game flow, which
contributed to an exciting though one sided football game.

Jerry O Mahoney, Kerry Ladies Football Chairperson, presented Southern Gaels captain Deidre Fenton
with the Ballyroe Heights Hotel Senior League Cup on behalf of Mark O Sullivan, General Manager of
Ballyroe Heights Hotel.
