Our U16 girls drew with St. Brigids on Wednesday evening last in Kiltoom in their opening round of the championship with the final score St. Croans 2 – 7 St. Brigids 3 – 4. On Sunday they were narrowly defeated by Kilbride in Enfield. A strong cross wind had a huge influence on the first half with the first score coming in the 19th min of the game when Shannon Caulfield tipped the ball over the bar. However, Kilbride responded with a goal shortly before the half time whistle. A long pass from Ellie Coen into full forward Shannon Caulfield who planted the ball in the back of the net opened the Croans account for the second half putting Croans ahead. Croans maintained their lead throughout most of the second half. However, a goal conceded in the closing minute of the game was enough to nudge Kilbride one point ahead and claim victory. Final score St. Croans 4 – 1 Kilbride 3 – 5. Our next game is away to St. Barrys on Sunday next. Our Junior ladies will play St. Faithleachs next weekend and details of this game will be confirmed during the week.
