23 June 2014 St. Dominic's Notes Share this Article 0 0 0 Shares! 0 Shares! St. Dominic’s Beginners & U8 Nursery Programme continues each Saturday morning at the pitch, while U10 training continues each Friday at 6.00pm. St. Dominic’s U14s ladies played Clann na nGael in the U14 League Division 1 Final in Ballyforan on Wednesday 18th June. As is now customary in Dominic’s / Clann encounters, this was another nail-biting clash. Both sides settled quickly while St. Dominic’s scored first with a well taken point from play. St. Dominic’s had most of the play in the first half and at one stage had built up a 4 point lead. However, Clann fought back and with a series of scores had the sides level at half time – Clann na nGael 2.03 to St. Dominic’s 1.06. The second half was an equally exciting duel with some fantastic team play from both sides. The full time score was St. Dominic’s 4.10 to Clann’s 3.09 – the Dominic’s girls taking the inaugural U14 League Division 1 title. After the presentation of the Shield the team were welcomed home to a bonfire and a cheering crowd in Knockcroghery. Many thanks to the large number of St. Dominic’s supporters that travelled on the evening to cheer on the girls, with a special mention to St. Dominic’s President (Tommie Fallon) and Chairperson (Thomas Murray) who led the welcome home celebrations. The U14s next competitive game is the Championship Round 1 game on Sunday 17th August. Best wishes to St. Dominic’s players Julie Healy, Rachel Corcoran & Eimear McNally and the Roscommon Ladies U16 team that play Sligo in the 3rd Round of the Connacht U16 Championship on Tuesday 24th June in Tubbercurry. The Juniors continued training this week. Their next game is away to St. Mary’s on Sunday 6th July. This game was scheduled to be played on Sunday 18th May but had to be deferred due to fixture clashes. Share this Article 0 0
