Strokestown News

Minor:  Our minor girls bowed out of the championship on Tuesday evening last, losing to a much stronger St Brigids team on a scoreline of 9.11 to 3.6.

Team & scorers: Shauna McDermott, Chelsea Devine 1.0, Cora Devine 0.3,

Triona Kelly, Jill Mullooly, Aisling Hanley 1.3, Ellie Hanley, Hettie Cahill, Rebecca Lee, Emer Compton, Rebecca Compton, Zoe McDermott, Mikaela Lawe, Caitlin Flanagan 1.0, Colleen Cauneen, Caroline Beirne,

Sarah Madden & Claire Brogan. Thanks to the girls and their mentors Jonathan Cassidy. PJ Kelly, Maeve Hanley & Diane Mullooly.

U14:  U14’s were comprehensively defeated 8.11 to 0.1 in their championship game v St Brigids. This was a complete mismatch and one wonders how we were ceded in the same division.  Our young girls played their hearts out despite the one sided nature of the game. Team: Shauna McDermott, Katie Birch, Megan Tynan, Paula Compton, Sarah Mai Kavanagh, Joanna Regan, Michelle Fay, Leah Brady, Cora Devine, Isobel Holmes, Sadhbh Cusack, Ciara Compton, Leigh McGinley, Chloe Flanagan, Zoe McDermott, Lauren Beirne, Siobhan Kelly & Nicole Kennedy.

County news: Best of luck to Feena Beirne and the county Intermediate ladies who play Fermanagh in the TG4 All Ireland semi-final on Saturday next 6th September at 1.45pm in Pearse Park, Longford.
