Following their exciting and surprising win over Dublin last weekend, Tyrone proved it was no flash in the pan when they defeated Waterford in a very entertaining game at Fontenoy. Tyrone led at the short whistle 1-17 to 1-4 and they survived a strong Waterford revival in the 2nd period. Waterford recovered well to lead with 12 minutes to go, but Tyrone inspired by Ailish Gormley, Lynettee Hughes and Michaela O’Neill, they came back strongly to run out worthy winners by 4 points. It certainly was another great boost as well for new manager Sean O’Kane. Not that long time Waterford manager Michael Ryan was displeased, with his depleted team, but he now faces the task of taking points from Dublin or Meath if his team are to make the playoff stages of the league. Organised by Pat Quill of Wexford the day proved to be very worthwhile. Most discussion centered on the physical side of the game where many people believe, has almost gone out of hand. Steps will be put in place to ensure that the openness and attractiveness of ladies Football will be brought back to the level it was in the not too distant past. Share this Article 0 0
