In addition to supporting the Cork Ladies Football Championships, Tesco HomeGrown will be supporting Cork clubs through a number of initiatives including a sponsored jersey scheme, player’s awards, fundraising activities and support of the Championship finals.  Further details of these initiatives will be announced shortly.

Four of Cork’s highest profile Club and County stars were on hand to launch the sponsorship – Geraldine O’Flynn (Liscarroll), Rena Buckley (Donoughmore), Valerie Mulcahy (Rockban) and Annie Walsh (Inch Rovers).

Tesco has long been a supporter of Ladies Gaelic Football Association and currently sponsors the All Ireland Club Championships, the All Ireland Club Sevens, the Club Person of the Year Award and the All Ireland Post Primary Schools competitions.

John Prendergast, Tesco Ireland’s Head of Trade Planning and Local Marketing, commented, “We are thrilled to come on board as sponsors of the Cork Ladies Football Championships.  Tesco HomeGrown is all about promoting the best local Irish produce, and with our sponsorship of the Cork Ladies Football Club Championships we are committed to helping promote some of the best home grown footballers in the country.”

Neilus Carroll, Chairperson of the Cork Ladies Football County Board, commented, “I am delighted the Tesco have come on board to support of club Championships which are now the Tesco HomeGrown Club Championships . To have a multi-international company such as Tesco as our sponsors is such a great boost for Cork Ladies Football and for our clubs and I hope this sponsorship will benefit Tesco HomeGrown as much as the sponsorship will certainly benefit Ladies Football within the county of Cork ”
