2010
Michael Forde Leinster PRO

Wicklow start out in search of the TG4 Leinster Junior Championship title, when they take on Offaly in the preliminary round on Sunday next, the prize awaiting the winners is a place in the semi-final, where Wexford are waiting in the wings. Wicklow have an added incentive on Sunday next, where a win for the Garden County would mean a home fixture in the semi final.
Wicklow go in to Sundays game as the bookies favourites to reach the semi final, Offaly , had a very poor Bord Gáis Energy campaign, where they failed to register a win, while Wicklow competed in the third division notched up seven points to finish in fifth place, and were unlucky not to break Cavan’s unbeaten run in their second last game of the league, losing out by a single score (2-06 to 1-06), the Garden County Ladies finished off their league campaign with a draw against Longford (2-12 to 4-6), Longford will play in the Intermediate division of the Leinster championship for 2010.
At the start of the 2010 season, Wicklow drafted in a number of up and coming players from the minor ranks, in particular Jackie Kinch, Lucy Mulhall, Sarah Miley and Sarah Hogan who have made a seamless step up to the senior ranks, the young guns have gelled well with the more experienced players, including Bord Gais Energy all stars Caoilfhionn Deeney and Lorna Fuisciardi.
In the second semi final, which is fixed for the 4th July, reigning TG4 Leinster Junior champions Louth take on Carlow, and a barring a major upset the Wee county should progress to the final, Wicklow would love another chance to retake the Leinster Title from Louth, after they had to go to a replay last season to decide the destination of the TG4 Leinster Junior title.
However its one step at the time, and the Faithful County is the first hurdle that Wicklow must over come on Sunday next.
The Wicklow Under 16s take on Dublin in the Leinster Semi Final next Saturday 26th June at 2pm in Ballyboden St Enda’s – All Support Welcome
