TG4 Munster Finals

Kerry surprise Waterford in a great game.

Kerry 2-12 Waterford 2-10

A few weekis ago Waterford scored a 10 points victrory over
Kerry in the first round of the TG4 Munster Championship
took 2 late goals for Kerry to put a bit of respectibility
on the scoreboard. On the evdence of that display Waterford
were odds on to defeat the Kingdom girls, who had just got
the better of Cork by a point in the Semi-Final. At Pairc
ui Rinn in perfect conditions it looked like deja vu, by
the 8th minute Waterford with goals from Rebecca Hallahan
and Aine Wall and points from Mary O’Rourke and Annalisa
Crotty, had jumped into a 8 point lead and a drubbing looked
on. Kerry to their eternal credit, inspired by Geraldine
O’Shea fought back magnificently and by half time led by
a point on a scoreline of 1-8 to 2-4. Five of their points
came from Miiss O’Shea with the vital goal, coming from
Patrice Dennehy, she also added a point, with other points
coming from Norren Fealy and Sarah 0’Connor who had a magnificent
game.

Pulsating pace
The 2nd half was played out, at a pulsating pace, with several
near misses.Waterford, will rue the many mssed opportunites
and for 20 minutes of the 2nd half, they had the Kerry goal
under virtual siege. Kery were dangerous in brteakaways
and a goal from Geraldine O’Shea proved vital. The last
10 minutes were almost unbearable. Waterford drew level
on the 26th minute with a Mary 0’Rourke point. Kerry dug
deep and two late points from Kate Kenneally and Geraldine
O’Shea sealed a famous win, their first in 10 years.
