TG4 Senior Championship Preview Ulster will again be the centre of attention in this weekend’s helping of the TG4 Senior Football Championship as Tyrone meet Armagh in the second qualifier round. The all-Ulster decider will be televised live from Dromard, Co. Longford on TG4. The mouth-watering tie is a repeat of last year’s Ulster final and the pick of this weekend’s fixtures which also see Laois taking on Galway, Sligo playing Kildare and Kerry facing Down for a place in the quarter finals. At the other end of the contest, Meath will play Donegal in the relegation play off. The traditional power houses of Ulster football, Armagh have stepped up a gear after their Ulster Championship was cut short in the first round by Donegal, beating Waterford by 6 points in the first qualifier round. They will be looking for the same form that helped them defeat their neighbours by a conclusive 2-9 to 3-14 to win last year’s Ulster Championship. “It’ll be very tough match and it’s winner takes all at this stage,” said Tyrone manager, Michella O’Neill. “We know each other very well and both of us will be out to win so it should make for an exciting contest. “Armagh will be looking to put things right after a disappointing Ulster Championship and they’ll be looking to play on our weaknesses. Unfortunately we’re still looking for theirs.” Tyrone have a few minor injuries but expect to have a full squad of players available to pick from come Saturday. Armagh have one concern in Crossmaglen forward, Sharon Duncan who picked up an injury playing camogie at the weekend. Provincial winners Cork, Mayo, Dublin and Monaghan await this weekend’s qualifiers while Meath find themselves in the uncomfortable predicament of having to play Donegal to retain their place in the Senior Championship, following defeat in the Leinster final to Dublin and in the first round qualifier at the hands of Down. Sunday’s beaten team will face Waterford in the relegation final on August 17th, with a place in the TG4 Intermediate Championship awaiting the loser next year.
