Therese Marren wins player of the month

 

Therese Marren is the Lucozade Sport/Irish Independent Player
of the Month for October Therese Marren is the Lucozade Sport/Irish
Independent Player of the Month for October. The Curry forward
put in a Herculean performance in the Connacht Junior final in
Kilbride, County Roscommon. The 17-year-old scored 3-13 against
Kilbride to help her side win the Connacht title after an epic
struggle which saw the game go through two periods of extra-time.

The game which went on for close to two hours finally ended in
a single point victory for the Sligo club. Curry won 4-21 to Kilbride’s
7-11 and the team captain’s outstanding contribution to the scoreboard
won her a much deserved Player of the Match Award on the day.
Marren is no stranger to success as she played a pivotal role
in Sligo’s 2006 Junior All Ireland winning team and in 2004 was
voted Connacht Young Play of the Year.

At the presentation of the Award, Marren said, “I’m thrilled to
receive this award. It was such a tight game and by the end of
it, the muscles in my legs had completely seized up so I was just
delighted that we got through it with the victory.”
