Tom Madigan, RIP

ALL of us at the Ladies Gaelic Football Association are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Tom Madigan, who had been a member of the Old Mill and St. Senans clubs in Limerick. Tom had been involved with Limerick Ladies Football as a founding member in the 1990s, and he served as county Chairperson for 15 years.

The trophy that is presented each year to the Limerick senior champions is named after and was sponsored by Tom, who successfully trained Mungret St. Pauls to a senior county title in the 1990s.

Tom served as President of Munster LGFA for three years and also served as Munster LGFA treasurer and on the National Disciplinary Committee. In 2008, Tom was inducted into the LGFA Hall of Fame.

Limerick Ladies Football and the wider LGFA family mourn Tom’s passing and those closest to him have lost a devoted family man and friend. Our deepest condolences go to Tom’s family, his loving wife Kay, his three sons, James, TJ and Tony, his three daughters, Claire, Triona and Gerry, his many grandchildren, relatives and his large circle of friends.

To honour Tom’s memory, a moment’s silence will be observed at all Lidl National League semi-finals over the coming weekend. Tom will repose from his home tomorrow, Thursday, from 5pm. Funeral in St. Senan’s Church Shanagolden at 1pm on Friday, 18th March with burial afterwards in local cemetery. The funeral mass will be streamed and condolences can be expressed online: dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
