Two Kerry Sides set to contest Munster Finals this weekend It’s a big weekend for two Kerry Ladies football clubs as they bid for Provincial glory on Saturday. Southern Gaels last weekend lifted the Munster “B” title beating Ballymacarby of Waterford 1-15 to 3-6. Connie O’Connor’s side looked ring rusty after their five week lay off since winning the County championship back in early September. Luckily for them Sarah O’connor brought her scoring boots to Donoghamore (Co.Cork) as the Kerry captain hit 1-8 of her side’s winning tally. Kacey O’Driscoll was perhaps the most influential player on the day when the Gaels were almost made pay for squandering several scoring chances. Michelle O’Sullivan also chipped with four points as Deirdre Fenton and Sinead Sheehan shored things up in defence for the Kerry champions. Cork champions Inch Rovers will provide a stern test for the South Kerry side as the East Cork outfit who won their first Cork senior Club championship on Sunday have quality players like Angela and Ciara Walshe and Amy O’Shea in their ranks. Dual Cork player Mary O’Connor will remain sidelined for now as she is still out with injury. CastleIsland Desmonds will get proceedings underway at 12.30 in Feenagh as they meet Clare side West Clare Gaels in the Junior decider. The Kerry champions were helped in no small measure in their semi-final win by Mary O Keefee who hit nine points for her side as they easily accounted for Waterford outfit Ballyduff. Marie Twomey, Lorraine Sacnlon, Aisling Leonard and Rachael Cronin will all be key players on the day for a youthful looking side who will need to step up a few notches as the Clare champions were most impressive in qualifying for the final when seeing off Ballingeary in Moyvane last weekend. Laune Rangers crashed out of the Intermediate Munster club championship at the same venue last Saturday as they went down 4-14 to 2-14 against another Clare side Coolaclare in the Intermediate semi-final.
