09 May 2011 U12A Leinster Blitz Share this Article 0 0 0 Shares! 0 Shares! Twelve teams took part in the Leinster U12A blitz in the Carlow Town hurling club on Monday 2nd May. Teams came from Offaly, Longford, Kildare (3 teams), Wexford (3 teams), Carlow, Meath (2 teams) and Kilkenny. The teams brought great colour and excitement to the occasion and the level of football on display was very impressive. The Kildare girls did their clubs, families and county proud. Team Kildare competed in Division 1 alongside Meath, Offaly and Wexford. The girls got off to a good start with a draw against a strong Meath team (Kildare 0.04 Meath 0.04). Next up for Kildare was Wexford who had beaten Offaly well in their opening game and continued their high scoring beating Kildare 4.03 to 0.05. In the last tie, Kildare managed to find their scoring boots and beat Offaly 2.04 to 0.00. Unfortunately a draw and a win was not enough to secure a final spot for the Kildare girls. The team was Amy Horan (Ballymore), Beth Doyle (Ballymore), Claire Melia (Ballykelly), Aine Nash (Monasterevin), Niamh Masterson (Leixlip), Elle O’Toole (Kilkullen), Julia Marron (Ballykelly), Lauren Kelly (Kildangan Nurney), Melissa Monaghan O Brien (Sarsfields), Nicole Dooley (Suncroft), Kayleigh Humphries (Athgarvan), Kate Hannon (Moorefield), Lara Curren (Milltown), Carrie Pedley (Moorefield), Alannah McLoughlin (Ballykelly), Kate Merrick (Maynooth), Grace Dooley (Kildangan Nurney), Tegan Ruddy (Celbridge), Roisin Forde (Maynooth), Fiona Tracey (St Laurences), Nancy Murphy (Kilkullen), Grace Casey (Ballykelly). Cill Dara competed in Division 2 alongside Meath B, Loch Garman and Longford. Cill Dara got off to a great start beating Longford 2.04 to 0.00 but lost out to Meath B and Loch Garman. The Cill Dara team was Georgina Kelly (Naas), Roisin McConnon (Robert Emmetts), Emma Bushe (Celbridge), Rebecca Brereton (St Kevins), Lisa Byrne (Milltown), Ciara Naughton (Celbridge), Aimee O Neill (Milltown), Saoirse Molloy (Celbridge), Aine Sweeney (Milltown), Katie Loughren (Naas), Amy Jones (Naas), Cierie Boland (Milltown), Clare Wossa (Cappagh), Natalie Campbell (St Kevins), Anna Gallagher (Celbridge), Rachel Casey (St Kevins), Amy Carrenny (Naas), Susie Walsh (Leixlip), Blaithnaid Hoynihan (Leixlip), Leah Doyle (Leixlip), Kate Drennan (St Kevins), Orla Mortimer (Na Fianna), Eva Murphy (Eadestown). The Lilywhites competed in Division 3 alongside Carlow, Kilkenny and Purple and Gold. The team battled hard but were unlucky not to win a game.
