14 March 2011 U14 Challenge game Kildare V Tyrone Share this Article 0 0 0 Shares! 0 Shares! With last weeks defeat out of their system Kildare took to the field on a bitterly cold day in Ballykelly. They started with a new look line up and took a bit of time to gel allowing the visitors Tyrone to take an early two goal lead. An injury to captain Emma Lyons didn’t help matters but as the half went on Kildare found their rhythm and started to get a good passing game together. The first point was all the confidence the Kildare girls needed and from that moment they took command of the game outscoring their opponents to lead 3.05 to 3.02 at the break. With a panel of 24, changes were always on the cards and Kildare made ten throughout the game. This did not stop the continuity of the team as they are a tight bunch all vying for a place on the starting line up. Kildare again started well and were driven on by Niamh Mulhall (player of the match) who was moved into the midfield berth. Goals from Kayleigh Farrell, Molly Cullen, Caoimhe O’Fearghall, and Emily Aulsberry gave the Lillies a platform to build on and well taken points made sure Tyrone were always playing catch up. The match ended with a score line of 5.09 to 3.09 in favour of Kildare. The win will hopefully put the team back on track and will no doubt give them the confidence to go out and get a result against Laois next week in the next round of the Leinster championship.
