Vhitality Seminar for Castlebar GMIT Castlebar was the venue recently for a unique health information evening – Vhitality – hosted by Vhi Healthcare and the Ladies Gaelic Football Association. The evening consisted of a number of presentations by a host of experts kicking off with Philip Phelan, www.vhi.ie Fitness Expert, offering tips on avoiding overtraining and burnout as well as practical information on sports performance. Nuala Collins, www.vhi.ie Nutrition Expert, focused on optimum foods for sporting activities whilst Vhi’s stress expert, Karen Belshaw offered an interesting slot on pre-match psychology and how to manage pre-match nerves some tips to handle any tensions before a game. The event was well attended by the main clubs with strong representation from Breaffy, Claremorris, Mary Davitts, Knockmore, Swinford and Castlebar clubs. Connacht President, Mary Quinn welcomed everyone on the night and Vhi Healthcare were represented by John Quinn who manages the Galway Office. Just some of the comments from those attending on the night included:- – “Great help for sportspeople” – “All speakers were excellent, giving very helpful tips that can be used in everyday life” – “it would be great to have this for all county teams” – “Learned a lot on how to improve my personal fitness and nutritional status” – “very good, learned a great deal. Very practical Tips. – “Very Interesting and Enjoyable” The Vhitality series has been created by Vhi Healthcare specifically for LGFA.
