Course content

This one day course explores the core principles of good practice
for the effective recruitment and selection of volunteers. It
is particularly suitable for those who have direct responsibility
for the recruitment and selection process. By the end of the course
you will be able to:

 

Prepare an effective recruitment strategy that reflects the principles
of good practice.

Design appropriate and meaningful roles for volunteers.

Develop and implement fair and effective screening and selection
procedures.

This one day course is aimed at anyone who is responsible for
managing volunteers. It is useful for any organisation that is
interested in improving methods that help to retain volunteers
and encourage good performance. By the end of the day you will
be able to:

 

Understand what elements constitute effective support

Develop appropriate and effective support structures

Develop strategies for dealing with disciplinary issues

 

Developing an Environment that Supports Volunteers

Course content

This highly interactive, advanced level session builds on the
knowledge participants will have acquired in past workshops and
in their careers. This unique sessions equips participants to
create a work environment in which volunteers are welcomed and
valued and make the maximum contribution to the agency. In the
session, the instructor will help participants take a holistic
approach to the involvement of volunteers, bringing together learning
on customer service, leadership, self-esteem, and volunteer-staff
relations.
