11 May 2004 Wanted!! New Referees Share this Article 0 0 0 Shares! 0 Shares! WANTED – NEW REFEREE’S! Over the last couple of years the growth of Ladies GAA in Dublin has been phenomenal however the number of qualified referees available to officiate in Dublin has remained static. As a result fixtures often fall by the way side as the demand for referee’s often out weighs supply. If a referee fails to show for a game or is unavailable for one reason or another resulting in the relevant fixtures secretary unable to reappoint a match official as a back up panel of referee’s is not available to them. In an effort to increase the number of Ladies GAA referee’s within Dublin the Dublin County Board over the couple of months have organised two referee’s rules seminars. The last one which was held on the 8th of April was well attend, especially by young females of whom a number have been recently appointed to do U-10 and U-12 games, of which they have done extremely well. As a follow on from the April course a third seminar will take place this coming Thursday the 13th of May. The course will be conducted by National development officer Pat Quill (Wexford), Pat is an experienced Ladies GAA Official and has been instrumental in over seeing many of the changes in the playing rules of ladies GAA. The Course takes place in Whitehall Colmcille GAA club, Collins Ave and will commence at 7.30pm. Please note the change in venue from Clontarf GAA club which was previously advertised.
