After their very successful season last year when they reached the All-Ireland Intermediate final, the Glen girls have had a great start to this season. With a new league set-up which has Glen, Ardtrea, Faughanvale and Doire Colmcille in Division 1, these teams will play a three round league to decide who are county league champions. Three weeks into the league Glen have played two and won two, Ardtrea have also played two and won two, Faughanvale have played three and won one while Doire Colmcille have yet to record a win. Glen and Ardtrea missed out on the first round as it came only twenty four hours after the county played their National League Semi-final against Cavan and with quite a number from both teams involved in this game the fixture was put back to later in the season. Glen’s first two games were very convincing wins against Faughanvale and Doire Colmcille and produced some great performances, not only from some of the more experienced Glen players but the younger players who gained so much valuable experience last season and are now regularly challenging for a first 15 place on the team. Colm Joyce is once again in charge of the team and has planned out a number of excellent challenge games and 7-a-side competitions to keep all the girls on their toes and build up their fitness for the season ahead. Glen Ladies next play Ardtrea on Monday 28th April at 7pm (Glen pitch TBC) all support will be much welcomed. Share this Article 0 0
