Weekly Update from Cork Ladies Football

Weekly Update from Cork Ladies Football – February 8th 2010.

Cork Senior V Dublin

The 2010 Bord Gais National league first round saw Cork Senior Ladies Footballers host Dublin in Fermoy yesterday February 7th. For Dublin they travelled to Cork on a mission – to avenge for their 2009 All Ireland loss , and their determination was evident throughout the match , and upon the final whistle they returned to the capital with the just rewards of those 2 precious first league points for 2010. For Cork , though the result was disappointing , it was only the first day out of what hopefully will be another very long season to All Ireland final day at the end of September. It is hoped that this teams break from this Saturday February 13th to Saturday 20th in Tunisia will revitalise the squad & they return to travel to Monaghan on February 21st – refocused and energised for another competitive year in Ladies Football. The thanks of the board goes to all in Fermoy GAA who helped in any way to host this match.

Final Score Dublin 1-12 Cork 3-03.

County Secretaries / PRO Information evening;

Last Thursday in Macroom , Gobnait & myself hosted a Club Secretary / Club PRO information evening & we were joined on the night by County Development Officer Ger Walsh. Approx 40 clubs out of the 65 within the county attended same & were treated to informative presentations from both Ger & Gobnait which should enable all clubs to perform their officerships more efficiently throughout the season. Gobnait gave a wonderful presentation on every aspect of a club secretary from how to apply for the Accident fund, to transfers & onto club meeting / AGMS & she also wants it noted that all communication via the mobile to her from now on should go through her county board number 085-1100828 & to leave a message on same during School hours. By now all clubs according to rule 100 of the 2009 Official Guide – all clubs should have held their AGM – so if you have yet to forward your club Agm reports in full to Gobnait & a summary of same for printing in the Echo to me , please complete this week . For Club secretaries it is important you forward your email address & mobile phone numbers to Gobniat & Club PROS forward your email & mobile phone numbers to me ( 085-1100826) .

PRO : All Clubs are asked to submit a minimum of 1 – 70 word article as an attachment on their club for the Echo Ladies Football pages every Saturday . These notes are to be emailed ONLY to corkclubpro@gmail.com by 5pm every Tuesday . All clubs are encouraged to submit photographs of social events or matches which must be sent as an attachment & the photo must be of high MP quality ( mobile phones photos not clear enough usually) .

Ger Walsh gave out informative on courses from coaching at basic levels up to U14 to Adult level 3 coaching courses. There are also Referees courses available , it is hoped clubs will try to co-ordinate same between several of their local clubs as most course would need approx 25 participants. For further information contact Ger on corkladiesdev@gmail.com.

As you know any New players who join your club must be registered even before they train this years registrations will be accepted via email to corkladiesreg@gmail.com . Further information on fees etc available from all club secretaries.

County Trainings

Our thanks to Ballincollig Community School who hosted this weeks U16 & Minor Trials & Mourneabbey GAA , who hosted the U14 County Training . The U13 Development squad take a few weeks break until more pitches become available for County Board use.

Sponsorship:

As you may well know Cork ladies Football Board seeks a 2010 sponsor for their Inter county panels. For any Marketing Executives, who members of Ladies Football may know , why not contact our Chairman Brian Enright ( 085-1100827) for a copy of the 2010 Sponsorship Proposal . Cork Ladies Football , as you know is a very marketable commodity which generates media attention from both the Press & TG4 ( & of course this web page) and for any company wanting to expand their promotion outside of local interest to the national market the investment in Cork Ladies Football could be exactly the exposure required. Brian & his sponsorship committee will gladly be available to answer any queries businesses may have regarding how becoming Cork Ladies Football sponsor for 2010 can be of benefit to all.
