Wexford emerge victorious from Leinster Intermediate Final

Wexford emerge victorious from Leinster Intermediate
Final

The Leinster Intermediate Championship, which is
a new competition, saw its first final at Dr Cullen Park, Carlow
on Saturday the 28th of April. Wexford, Leinster Junior champions
for the past two years, took on Westmeath. Wexford emerged victorious
and the final score was 4-12 to 0-09.

The ultimate winners were off the mark very fast and quickly ran
up a substantial score. Westmeath could not make any impression
and the half time score was 3-08 to 0-05. Westmeath came into the
game more at the start of the second half but were very much on
the defensive. They managed to limit Wexford’s scoring ability to
1-04 thus bringing their winning total score to 4-12. Westmeath,
in response, managed just four points in the half and so Wexford
became the first recipients of the new Leinster Intermediate Cup.

The Intermediate Championship is a new competition and a new Cup
has been presented to the Leinster Council for presentation to this
year’s and future winners. The donor which has graciously sponsored
the Cup is DS Consulting of Athlone a firm specialising in Computer
consultancy, solutions and services. The cup was presented to the
winning Captain Martina Murray by Bill Daly President of Cumann
