Wexford Ladies Run Riot in Louth

 

The Wexford Datapac ladies football team had a convincing win,
7-19 to 1-6, over Louth in Stabannon on Sunday last. Louth, having
only been regarded from Senior to Intermediate this year were
not taken lightly by the Wexford side. Louth opened the score
with a point from Marie Brennan but Wexford took complete control
of the game from then on, going into a 3-4 to 0-1 lead after only
ten minutes. These scores coming from Michelle Hearne (2-0), Georgina
Moore (1-1) and points from Deirdre Fox, Caroline Murphy and Josie
Dwyer. Wexford continued to dominate the remainder of the half
with goals from Michelle Hearne, Kate Kelly and Georgina Moore
and points from Kelly (two), Moore (two), and one each from Ciara
Scallan, Josie Dwyer and Tara Moloney to open up a 6-11 to 0-4
lead.

Wexford’s dominance continued into the second half, with Kate
Kelly finding the net once again and Josie Dwyer and Michelle
Hearne adding points. Further points from Georgina Moore (two),
Tara Moloney, Meabh Hughes, Michelle Doyle and Laura Corrigan
gave them a total of 7-19. Wexford will now face Leitrim in the
next round of the All-Ireland series on July 29th at Wexford Park
at 12.30pm.
