Sligo Ladies Notes 23rd June 2013

A huge congratulation’s is extended to the Victorious Sligo U14 team who were recently defeated by Waterford in the All Ireland Semi Final.  This team has a Connacht championship and an All Ireland Blitz title under their belt for 2013.  They have represented the County in an impeccable manner at all times both on and off the field.  The team started off with about 50 players attending trials and was eventually narrowed down panel of 30 players from all around the County. Well done to all the player and their parents for supporting the girls in football and to the management who carried and encouraged them to great success.  Well done to all involved.

The Sligo Ladies were out on the Field on Sunday last against Leitrim in the 1st round of the championship.   Since the closure of the league the team has reformed and been training hard and participating in challenge games against strong opponents.  Leitrim had defeated them in the league and Sligo was determined to hit back with a championship win.  With a strong wind the black and white of Sligo fought hard and their determination helped them to victory over their neighbours. They go forward now to play Roscommon in the next round. (Venue to be confirmed)
